Has All Biblical Prophecy Already Been Fulfilled?

The Full Preterist view is that ALL biblical prophecy was fulfilled by or at the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD. ALL includes what is commonly known as “the second coming” of Christ. Preterist Papers was put together to help truth seekers with short, simple presentations to serve as a framework/aid in one’s journey into what may at first seem overwhelming. CHOOSING THE VERACITY OF SCRIPTURE OVER THE TRADITIONS OF MEN

In 1960, the great Christian apologist, C. S. Lewis, wrote that Mark 13:30 “is certainly the most embarrassing verse in the Bible” where Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place.” Sadly, instead of questioning the futurist tradition of the church regarding the second coming, he believed Jesus was in error. He would have been on much more sensible ground to become cognizant of the futurist glasses he was wearing, gifted to him by the “traditions of men.” To say Jesus “got it wrong” leaves us with nothing but a flawed savior and unreliable book.

The second coming in which futurists believe involves the “end of the world” which is never spoken of in scripture. The Bible speaks of the end of the Old Covenant age, not the end of the world. If one believes that the language where the sun is darkened and the moon does not give light requires the world to end, it would have ended during ancient times. Isaiah said, regarding the conquest of Babylon by the Medes, “The day of the Lord is coming…the rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. I will punish the world for its evil.” Isaiah 13:9-11.  Here we see de-creation language applied to the fall of Babylon in 539 BC. This is typical apocalyptic language in the Hebrew Scriptures and we should not project our 21st-century materialistic western concepts into it.

When the New Testament is read in its historical context, of the very near destruction of Jerusalem and the Old Covenant, the apocalyptic passages are no longer “embarrassing” but wonderfully and precisely fulfilled. The following papers uphold the veracity of scripture and place us in awe and wonder regarding this LORD who declares the end from the beginning.
